Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder where the body mounts an immune response that attacks the small intestine. People suffering from celiac disease may also find themselves developing canker sores and inflamed gums. While not everyone who has gluten intolerance has celiac disease, everyone can enjoy this gluten-free dessert. Recipe courtesy of Furthermore.equinox.com and your Fountain Valley orthodontist.

3 ounces dark chocolate (>70% cacao), chopped
¼ cup coconut cream

pinch fine sea salt
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
For dipping: dried and fresh fruits and nuts like sliced banana, sliced apple, sliced kiwi, halved dried figs, dried apricots, salted almonds, coconut chunks.
Directions:
Step 1: In a bowl set over a pot of simmering water, combine chocolate, coconut cream, honey, and salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, until melted and smooth. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla. (Taste and stir in additional honey, if needed.)
Step 2: Transfer to a slightly warmed serving bowl and serve with fruit and other items for dipping. Store any leftover chocolate sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
